special education life skills classroom teacher position will begin
on August 1, 2025. This Teacher position is located in Austin,
Texas at the University of Texas-University Charter School (Texas
Neuro Rehab Center Campus). This position is located at a partner
residential hospital treatment center campus in a non-traditional
alternative educational setting that focuses on neurological
brain-based medical rehabilitation. The average class size is 12 or
fewer students. This year-round (11 months) 194 days position is
from August 1 to June 30. The University of Texas-University
Charter School is a public charter school and follows all state and
federal regulations for public school services. The University of
Texas-University Charter School is a part of the University of
Texas at Austin's College of Education. This position has the
salary spread over 12 months. The candidate selected for this
position will be required to attend a paid full day New Employee
Orientation on July 28, 2025 in Austin, Texas.You will make a

- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and
appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of
students.
- Effectively plan and use appropriate instructional
interventions, strategies, activities, materials, and equipment to
add educational value for each student. ESL, GT, at-risk, etc.
- Comply with UT-UCS curriculum standards and all relevant
policies and procedures UT, UT-UCS, and campus. Implement each
student's IEP and 504 accommodations as stated.
- Establish and maintain open communication with the principal,
professional support personnel, teachers, facility staff, parents,
and students.
- Manage student behavior effectively and in accordance with the
treatment plan if applicable, the Student Code of Conduct and the
student handbook.
- Conduct ongoing, formal, and informal assessment of student
learning. Utilize data effectively to inform instruction.
- Participate in faculty meetings, committee meetings and staff
development as required.Required QualificationsValid Core 4-8 AND
Special Education EC-12 Texas teaching certifications. Knowledge of
assigned subject or subjects. Understanding of TEKS and the
curriculum standards of the State of Texas. General knowledge of
curriculum and instruction. Strong organizational, communication,
and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a non-traditional
school setting with special needs students of varying abilities and
interests. Maintain awareness and understanding of the role that
trauma may play in the lives of our students. Proficiency in
technology and technology applications to the level specified by
the district. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or
university. This position requires fingerprinting. Relevant
education and experience may be substituted as
appropriate.Preferred QualificationsAt least one year experience
working with students with various special education needs and at
least one year experience with special education Individual
Education Plans and ARD paperworkSalary Range$58,000 + depending on
qualificationsWorking ConditionsClassrooms are located within a
