Non-Exempt (Hourly) Reports to : Pastor or Director of Religious
Education Summary The Coordinator of Youth Ministry is responsible
for planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive Catholic
youth ministry program for middle school and high school teens.
This includes oversight and coordination of EDGE (Middle School
Ministry) , Life Teen (High School Ministry) , and all associated
retreats, service projects, sacramental preparation collaboration,
and parish events. The Coordinator works in collaboration with the
Pastor, parish staff, parents, volunteers, and the wider parish
community to lead young people closer to Christ and to foster their
active participation in the life of the Church. Primary
Responsibilities 1. Program Leadership & Execution Develop,
coordinate, and oversee all aspects of EDGE and Life Teen programs.
Plan weekly gatherings, teaching series, small groups, service
opportunities, social events, and prayer experiences. Ensure all
content is in line with Catholic teaching, Life Teen curriculum,
the parish mission, and diocesan guidelines. Advocating for a
comprehensive vision of youth ministry based on USCCB document,
Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic Youth Ministry.
Coordinate youth participation in liturgical ministries, especially
at a designated Youth Mass when applicable. 2. Volunteer
Recruitment & Formation Recruit, train, manage, and support adult
Core Team volunteers for both EDGE and Life Teen. Provide ongoing
formation, retreats, and spiritual support to volunteers. Ensure
volunteers are compliant with diocesan Safe Environment
requirements. 3. Retreats, Conferences & Special Events Plan and
direct middle school and high school retreats, including
Confirmation-related retreats when applicable. Coordinate
participation in diocesan youth events, mission trips, conferences,
and service projects. Organize fundraising activities when
necessary. 4. Pastoral Care & Relationship Building Foster a
welcoming, safe, and Christ-centered environment for all teens.
Build supportive relationships with youth, parents, and families.
Provide pastoral support, mentoring, and spiritual guidance to
teens within appropriate boundaries. 5. Administration &
Communication Maintain updated calendars, attendance, and program
records. Communicate regularly with parents, parish staff, and
volunteers via email, Flocknote, bulletin, social media, and parish
website. Prepare and manage the youth ministry budget. Ensure Safe
Environment policies are strictly implemented, including
supervision, digital communication, and one-on-one contact
policies. 6. Collaboration & Parish Integration Collaborate with
Religious Education staff, Confirmation coordinators, liturgical
ministers, and school personnel when applicable. Promote youth
presence in parish life, including service opportunities and
participation in parish events. Attend weekly parish staff meetings
and diocesan youth ministry gatherings as required. Other duties as
assigned by Pastor Requirements Qualifications Practicing Roman
Catholic in good standing who lives in accordance with Church
teachings. Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Education,
Youth Ministry, or related field preferred (or equivalent parish
ministry experience). Experience working with youth and volunteers
in a parish or Catholic school setting. Strong leadership,
communication, and organizational skills. Ability to work evenings,
weekends, and attend retreats or conferences. Safe
Environment/Catechetical training (or willingness to obtain).
Proficiency in digital communication, social media, and basic
office software. Bilingual – (English and Spanish) Three years of
parish and/or administrative office experience Proven experience
with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Power Point) and Adobe
Acrobat. Ability to communicate with various levels of staff and
management Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays due to
work an unpredictable schedule when necessary. Preferred
Qualifications Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize
work effectively and efficiently. Ability to compose
correspondence, minutes and/or reports. Ability to work
independently Ability to maintain confidentiality Key Personal
Qualities A missionary heart and a passion for evangelizing young
people. Dependability, creativity, and flexibility. Ability to work
collaboratively and pastorally with youth, parents, clergy, and
volunteers. Strong understanding of Catholic doctrine and
willingness to continue learning. Professional, friendly,
compassionate, and dedicated to building community. Physical
Demands While performing the duties of this position, employees may
