Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Identify, solicit and obtain strategic fiber broadband investment opportunities by utilizing state grants funded by the Federal Broadband Equity Access & Deployment (BEAD) and American Relief Plan Act (ARPA)
  • Create Public-Partner-Partnerships with municipalities on opportunities to best position ROI on Astound buildout and expansion strategies
  • Develop and implement strategies to subsidize broadband growth as well as strategies for local regulatory initiatives to allow feasibility of infrastructure deployment
  • Develop and maintain relationships with city, county, and state government representatives and regulators at the federal, state and local level. Travel to attend meetings, hearings, or other events to represent Astound as necessary
  • Interface with local and regional governments as necessary to advance funding efforts
  • Advocate public policy issues and build local relationships with federal, state, and local elected officials, grass roots and community stakeholders
  • Develop strategies for local government advocacy and ensure compliance with regulatory bodies
  • Educate government and community stakeholders about corporate and industry issues and the impact on customers and the business
  • Monitor and analyze proposed legislation for impact on the business and region, and work with appropriate internal groups to take strategic action
  • Work closely with and serve on board of directors of business and community organizations. Build consensus from a broad range of individuals
  • Engage employees in Astound's legislative, marketing, and community engagement efforts
  • Successfully manage intracompany department relationships. Navigate knowledgeably among different departments and lobby internally to best position a win-win for all
  • Interact with the ACAC to advance broadband funding opportunities at Astound
  • Other duties as assigned

    What You Bring to the Table:

    • Minimum of 7 years of relevant government affairs and/or government/legislative experience.
    • Expert familiarity with financial services regulatory processes, Capitol Hill, and policymakers (and their staffs).
    • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport and credibility with key individuals and to build, maintain and leverage a broad network of contacts.
    • This leader will have solid strategic-thinking, strong analytical acumen and an ability to simplify the complex, and continuously prioritize multiple objectives.
    • Understanding of public sector capital planning processes.
    • Requires both strategic and tactical skill sets with an eye for detail, numbers, intellectual curiosity, proficient problem-solving skills and a strong command of marketing objectives.
    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills including the power to influence; develops concise persuasive presentations in a collaborative environment.
    • Excellent oral/written communication and inter-personal skills.
    • Proven, superior collaborative and influence skills for all levels of management.
    • A high degree of demonstrated analytical ability, decision-making and problem solving is required.
    • Self-starter with excellent planning, prioritization and organization skills.
    • Strong project management skills and experience.
    • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to multi-task.
    • A willingness to listen and receive constructive feedback from all levels.
    • Ability to think creatively and drive innovation.
    • Budget-management skills and proficiency.

      Education:
