Job Title: Registered Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory Therapy Specialty: Respiratory Therapy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 - 3 years preferred License: RT or RCP License in state of employment required Certifications: - Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC required - Current BLS certification required (AHA only) - Current ACLS certification required (AHA only) - Current PALS certification required (AHA only) - Current NRP certification required (AHA only) Must-Have: - Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy procedures - Ability to perform patient assessments and develop respiratory care plans - Competency in emergency response situations Description: Responsible for the pulmonary care of critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under the direction of a physician with minimal supervision. Performs patient assessments and institutes respiratory care plans. Performs various technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures in all areas of the facility. Meets expectations of applicable competencies, including leadership skills. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Emergency response including airway management and suctioning - Delivery of aerosolized drugs - Ventilator management including setup and operation - Oral hygiene and airway management device maintenance - Oxygen delivery devices and therapeutic monitoring - Blood gas collection and analysis - EKG analysis and accurate record-keeping - Cleaning and stocking of equipment and supplies as necessary - Participation in surveys Registered Respiratory Therapists may function as Shift Leaders or serve in a team leader capacity. Advanced practice skills may include therapeutic gas management and monitoring, pulmonary function testing, and hemodynamic monitoring. Transport duties may be required.
