Job Summary Applications Manager / Pharmacy Systems is responsible for overseeing all pharmacy software applications across the organization, including strategic planning, implementation, optimization, and support of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom systems. This leader oversees application integration and conversion efforts as new pharmacies are acquired, ensuring smooth transitions into the company’s standard platform (SoftWriters FrameworkLTC/ECM). The role drives workflow automation, process improvement, and operational efficiency in partnership with Pharmacy Operations, IT, compliance, vendors, and executive leadership. This position manages the Applications or Pharmacy Systems team and plays a critical role in supporting business growth and operational excellence across all pharmacy locations. Duties and Responsibilities Supervisory Responsibilities Lead, mentor, and grow a team of analysts, subject matter experts, and trainers supporting core pharmacy applications. Conduct performance reviews, promote professional development, and foster a collaborative, high-performance culture. Lead regular team meetings aligned with IT and organizational goals. COTS Implementation, Conversions & System Integration Lead integration and conversion efforts from legacy systems to company-standard platforms (FrameworkLTC, FrameworkECM as applicable). Investigate existing workflows and systems at acquired pharmacies and create comprehensive migration plans. Coordinate resources, timelines, testing, cutover activities, and post-go-live support. Oversee the configuration of new pharmacy application environments. Partner with IT infrastructure teams to ensure systems, hardware, and connectivity are ready for migrations. Work with account management and pharmacy operations to develop customer and staff communication plans related to system transitions. Support data mapping, validation, and migration activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Pharmacy Workflow & Automation Leadership Work with pharmacy automation technologies such as SynMed, Medicine-On-Time, Parata, TCGRx, Omnicell, McKesson, Dosis, and RxSafe. Identify opportunities to streamline pharmacy workflows and improve automation using built-in tools, custom workflows, or integration points. Research and analyze pharmacy processes to recommend and implement technology-driven improvements. Application Support & Environment Management Oversee application support for FrameworkLTC, ECM, DocuTrack, e-Courier, eMAR interfaces, and e-prescribing systems. Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of the environment for core pharmacy applications, collaborating with vendor partners providing managed services. Ensure proper acceptance testing of system updates, patches, and new features. Documentation, Training & Change Management Develop workflow documentation, SOPs, diagrams, user guides, and training materials through interviews, process mapping, and analysis. Ensure robust version control, change documentation, and communication of updates. Assist and lead change management processes to ensure smooth adoption of new systems and workflows. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication Partner with pharmacy operations, IT development, compliance, IT security, automation vendors, and leadership to align system capabilities with business needs. Provide executive-level reporting on project progress, risks, ROI, and resource requirements. Act as a core member of the IT management team supporting strategic projects and organizational objectives. Project Management Use Agile or hybrid methodologies to manage project timelines, scope, and deliverables. Organize and prioritize tasks to meet established timelines with minimal supervision. Identify and mitigate risks associated with implementation, data integrity, user adoption, and operational disruptions. Requirements: Required Skills & Experience College degree or advanced degree. Proven IT aptitude and hands-on experience with enterprise applications. Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring technical teams. Extensive knowledge of pharmacy operations; licensed pharmacist strongly preferred. Experience researching, proposing, and implementing system changes to improve pharmacy workflows. Deep expertise with: FrameworkLTC® FrameworkECM™ DocuTrack & DeliveryTrack E-prescribing systems & eMAR interfaces Pharmacy automation (SynMed®, Medicine-On-Time®, Parata, TCGRx, Omnicell, McKesson, RxSafe) Desired Qualities Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with strong data-driven decision making. Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive-level briefings, assessments, and recommendations. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously. Proficient in English (written and spoken).
