Job Description /n /n POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
/nProvides and administers competent Hyperbaric Medicine services
to patients as prescribed by the Physician. Responsible for safe
and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related
support systems. Responsible for the safe delivery of hyperbaric
oxygen therapy to the hyperbaric treatment. Provide care in
accordance with age specific guidelines for each age group as
evidenced by the skill/competency checkoffs. Comply with
departmental and University Health policies/procedures, and
maintain good relations with co-workers and guest. /n/n
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE /nHigh school diploma or equivalent (GED)
required. Wound care center operator must be a healthcare
professional actively certified or licensed in one of the following
vocations to meet the minimum education and experience
requirements: (Respiratory Therapist, Military: Corpsman or Medical
Services Specialist, Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic,
Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Certified
Hyperbaric Specialist, Certified or Registered Medical Assistant,
Certified Hyperbaric Technologist, Certified Nursing Assistant,
Certified Hyperbaric Wound Specialist, Physical Therapist or
Physical Therapy Assistant, other allied healthcare professions as
approved by NBDHMT for certification eligibility, individuals who
have successfully completed U.S. Department of Defense (DOD)
hyperbaric training. /nSuccessful completion of a certification
program in Hyperbaric Medicine is required by the National Board of
Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Technology, Department of Defense,
American College of Hyperbaric Medicine, or Undersea & Hyperbaric
Medical Society is required. Must have current American Heart
Association, Basic Cardiac Life Support and Healthcare Provider
card. ACLS preferred. Maintains competencies, continuing education,
and certifications as appropriate. One year of experience required.
Must have completed approved Hyperbaric Safety Director Course or
attend within 6 months of employment. /n /n
