- Remote - US Position Summary The AIX Server Managers role is a
hands on manager responsible for the day to day AIX, UNIX server
operations, long term planning and project execution. The AIX
Server Manager will lead a team of Engineers providing mentoring,
performance evaluations, prioritizing tasks and leading incidents
through successful closure. The manager will configure and
administer various IT systems, with a focus on maintaining security
through confidentiality, integrity and availability. This
individual should have demonstrable experience in AIX, Linux, Unix,
Cache, and varying protocols such as HTTP, HTTPS, SMTP, SSH,
L2TP/IPsec with knowledge of TCP/IP and various web applications
and troubleshooting. This is a hands-on leadership role with HR and
Team Building responsibilities. Job Responsibilities Essential
Functions:
- Manage the operating systems of the Sonic Healthcare USA
non-Windows servers.
- Review new system designs and major modifications for
operability prior to implementation
- Perform reviews of security architecture, information security
administration and policy
- Collaborate with Sonic staff in the evaluation of new software
and hardware systems, particularly as they relate to Apollo
- Collaborate with other Infrastructure teams to identify server,
network and system vulnerabilities and the appropriate solutions to
eliminate or minimize their potential effects
- Collaborate with administrative and compliance staff in the
development and maintenance of the Sonic Healthcare information
policies
- Collaborate with administrative staff in ensuring that
departments have fulfilled their information security
responsibilities
- Manage Non-Windows server access and controls
- Review and revise naming standards, access controls and
security
- Manage the annual audit of end user accounts and create
remediation plans
- Manage non-Windows appliances in the DMZ in conjunction with
the Data Center Manager.
- Manage Cache databases in conjunction with peer teams
- Monitoring and incident responses
- Monitor server logs for violations and issues
- Investigate any actual or potential problems or incidents
- Provide periodic reporting on issues
- Training and Professional Development
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of available and emerging
network, security and computer technologies through professional
reading, attending industry conferences, and professional
development (training, education, and participation in professional
associations)
- Review advisories posted through agencies such as CERT, Center
for Internet Security, and SANS and recommends appropriate security
improvements
- Provide training for staff and management
- Other
- Adhere to change management procedures and implement changes
during defined and negotiated change windows
- Help maintain proper documentation of the organizations
computing environment
- Help design and manage the business recovery and disaster
recovery plans for the enterprise
- Ensure that relevant policies, laws, and regulations are
followed or enforced
- Perform other duties as assigned Skills:
- AIX, UNIX and/or LINUX server engineering level experience
required
- Security appliance administration
- TCP/IP knowledge
- Internet protocol knowledge
- MS-SQL or Cache experience
- Varying scripting techniques
- Web security knowledge and experience
- Excellent troubleshooting skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks as they arrive, and make
decisions
- Ability to communicate effectively through both written and
verbal communication within varying levels of the business Other

- Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, business or related
field, or equivalent education and related training
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Server Manager or Team
Leader
- Minimum of 5 years experience as an AIX, LINUX or UNIX Engineer
Preferred
- Minimum 3 years experience in a Lab or other Health Care
environment
- Experience in ITIL or similar methodology Travel
