Description: Social WorkAssistant Professor - 1920-011Effective Date: Fall 2021Located in beautiful northern San Diego County, the Department of Social Work at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) is seeking a dynamic educator and scholar committed to preparing students for advanced generalist social work practice. The Department is hiring a full-time tenure track faculty position at the level of assistant professor to begin in fall 2021.We strongly encourage applications from candidates who can demonstrate through their teaching, research and/or service that they can contribute to the diversity and excellence of our community. The Department offers a Masters degree in Social Work (MSW), with a specialization in Advanced Generalist Practice. The Department has three program options: advanced standing, two-year, and three-year. All courses are offered in person on the main campus. For a description of the program and courses, see Minimum Qualifications:A , or a related discipline (Advanced ABD candidates will be considered, with a , 2021)A Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program (if from an international university, must send letter of equivalency from CSWE)Possess two years of full-time post-MSW practice experienceProvide evidence of ability to teach in one or more of the following curricular areas: mental health, substance use, human behavior in the social environment, social work practice with individuals and groups, and/or clinical social work practice Demonstrate ability to develop and sustain a research program that will lead to publications in peer-reviewed journalsDemonstrate potential for success in working cooperatively with colleagues and students on an ethnically and culturally diverse campus, and satisfy at least one of the three criteria listed below:develops and/or teaches curricula that advances racial and social justice drawing from their engagement with communities of colordemonstrates record of success in research or creative activities focused on underserved communitiesserves as role model for our diverse student body and who have a demonstrated commitment to underserved communities as well as the academic success of all our studentsDesired/Preferred QualificationsFive or more years of full-time post-MSW experience in a community social work settingCurrently possess Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) (or equivalent) licensureSocial work practice and/or research experience with Latinx populationsProficiency in the Spanish languagePrevious experience in effective teaching at the graduate level (course evaluations may be requested)Demonstrated history of interprofessional collaboration and/or agency or community-based researchDutiesThe successful candidate will design and effectively teach graduate level courses in the social work program. Candidates are expected to engage in the following scholarly activities commensurate with rank: conduct original research, publish, seek and secure extramural funding, and engage in mentorship.
