Freese and Nichols, an engineering, architecture and construction services firm is conducting a nationwide search for a Marketing Strategist. We are expanding our Federal market sales efforts, which includes developing relationships with Federal agencies such as USACE, FEMA, USFWS, National Guard Bureau, Bureau of Reclamation, NRCS and others.We are seeking a Marketing Strategist/Proposal Manager to assist in our growth nationally. This person will be responsible for the management, development, and production of A/E/C submittals (proposals and statements of qualifications). Our ideal candidate is a person with 10 or more years of experience in creating strategic, focused proposals to help drive strategy and extend key client relationships and opportunities primarily in the Federal market. This person will be responsible for the day-to-day proposal schedule management, layout, editing, print production and delivery of high-profile proposals, statements of qualifications and presentations, but will also help manage ongoing account plans and help craft specific opportunity strategies.Qualified candidates will be skilled in meeting compliance and client requirements for Federal proposals, including maintaining communication with large proposal teams providing content, intensive schedule and draft review management, and creating compliant and attractive documents incorporating Federal forms such as SF330s.This role can be based in any Freese and Nichols location.Primary ResponsibilitiesPursuit Strategy and ProcessCollaborate with Freese and Nichols federal team on strategy for pursuits, such as monitoring SAM and GovWin, coordinating with teaming partners, and managing pre-work before submittals are releasedProvide research for strategic and key accounts and support key pursuit activities, including opportunity planningResearch leads generated from sales and business development effortsAssist business development efforts with competitor analysis, selection panel profiling, collecting and reviewing the competition's past proposals, conducting web research, etc.Support development of relationships with strategic teaming partners and subconsultantsProposal Management, Development and ProductionServe as Proposal Manager by communicating quickly and effectively with all internal and external team members during proposal processLead kickoff meetings and subsequent status meetingsSet and manage proposal schedules for drafts and content creationWork effectively with other marketing staff and delegate effectivelyPerform research on projects, firms and individual team members as needed to provide complete and compliant responsesCoordinate with subcontractorsPerform quality control checks and manage red team reviewsCoordinate printing, final delivery and archiving of submittalsWork with Sales to ensure that client debriefs take placeShortlist/Interview Strategy and PreparationCollaborate with Sales and technical staff on client presentation/interview strategyHelp interview teams rehearse for client presentationsCreate client presentation: both digital and printed materials, as neededGeneral MarketingHelp to create and improve Federal project descriptions by interviewing project personnel and reviewing existing documentation; perform other writing and editing assignments as neededProvide updates and corrections to the marketing (Cosential) database for information used in Federal proposals and other marketing materialsBe able to lead and assist with non-Federal proposals if needed, using FNI style and guidelinesAssist fellow Marketing Coordinators by performing quality control checks, providing style and grammar edits and verifying data provided in proposalsQualifications / RequirementsBachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or related area; Engineering or A/E/C training or background is a plus. Minimum of 10+ years' experience managing proposals with significant experience in the Federal MarketUnderstanding SF330 submittal requirements is necessary and an understanding of Federal government contracting and procurement issues and FAR regulations, is a plusSuccessful track record of producing winning proposals, including multivolume submittals with significant experience in the Federal Market is requiredSuperior written (grammar) communication skills including writing, proofing and editingStrong visual and document layout design skills that can graphically communicate key pointsExcellent organizational skills, diligent with time management, detail-oriented and able to solve problems creativelyAbility to coordinate and manage multiple project deadlines simultaneouslyAbility to lead meetings and diplomatically express ideas and opinions to both individuals and groupsStrong team ethicLearns quickly with a desire for continued learning and personal developmentComputer SkillsIntermediate or Expert in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and AcrobatExtensive experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPointAble to maintain and edit content in a database; knowledge of CRM databases such as Cosential is a plusOther RequirementsAbility to work overtime requiredSome minimal travel requiredAll applicants must apply online.About Freese and NicholsFreese and Nichols, Inc. is 127-year-old professional engineering and planning consulting firm serving clients across the southern United States.
