  • Masters Degree in Library/Information Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association or a related graduate degree program.
  • Computer literate and technologically adept.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel including compiling statistics and creating reports.
  • Knowledge of data services concepts, such as: development of research data plans, research data repositories, data curation, data publishing, data visualization, open data, and data literacy.
  • Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively as a team member.
  • Strong commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility.Preferred Qualifications:
    • 2 years of experience in research data management, data coordination, or academic research.
    • Experience developing and delivering training or workshop presentations.
    • Demonstrated understanding of metadata standards within the context of research data management.
    • Ability to communicate with a diverse range of constituents with varying levels of knowledge and experience, including faculty, librarians, and students in a variety of disciplines.
    • Knowledge of one or more programming languages, such as R, Python, SAS.
    • Experience with research data repository platforms, such as Dataverse.
    • Familiarity with the FAIR guidelines for accessibility and reuse of digital assets.Job Description:The Texas State University Libraries is hiring a Data Management Librarian. Reporting to the Digital Collections Librarian, the successful candidate builds relationships with faculty, staff, and students, promotes data literacy, and develops strategies to meet emerging needs. The person in this role will collaborate with Libraries staff, the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects, Information Technology, and other campus partners to build awareness around research data management best practices and data services offered to Texas State University researchers.Job Duties:Provide outreach events and educational instruction, consultations, and workshops to the university community both in-person and online. Collaborate with others in the library and across campus to effectively communicate services available to Texas State University researchers and keep the university community informed about policies and activities related to research data management, funder/publisher requirements, and open research initiatives. Create and manage online resources, including guides and templates within, to guide research data management best practices. Coordinate development of guidelines and policies for data management and data collection development to meet the needs of the teaching and research community. Maintain currency with data standards, procedures, and practices for data management, funder/publisher compliance, data sharing, metadata, etc., to continuously build expertise and improve services on campus. Participate in professional associations, workshops, conferences, and meetings, and contribute to the advancement of the profession and the status of the University Libraries.
