  • Must possess a high school diploma/ GED
  • Current and valid Texas Drivers license
  • Undergo a criminal background investigation and provided employment reference
  • Be a U.S. citizen by birth or naturalization
  • Work flexible hours, rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Ability to stand or walk for several hours each day and work in all weather conditions
  • Ability to fill out report forms and activity logsPreferred Qualifications
    • One or more years of previous security guard experience
    • Knowledge of proper procedures for university emergencies
    • Ability to use handheld two-way radio
    • Ability to disarm alarm systems
    • Ability to communicate with the public courteously even in a controversial situation.
    • Basic computer skills (familiarity with MS Word /Excel or equivalent) to complete written reports or activity logs

      • Monitor and assist with the security and protection of university buildings and properties
      • Provide friendly and quality information to students, employees, and visitors
      • Unlock and lock facilities as directed
      • Conduct patrols of designated areas, on foot, in a vehicle, or on a golf cart
      • Routine building checks. Respond to residence hall access breaches
      • Respond to fire alarms/trouble alarms and other emergencies
      • Vehicle assistance/jump-starts
      • Complete written reports
      • Assist University Police patrol units
      • Other related functions as assigned
